Where to Eat Near the Conference Venue

The area around the NH Málaga hotel offers a wide variety of restaurants and bars, ranging from modern concepts to traditional cuisine. Being in a touristy zone (especially near Calle Larios, the cathedral, and the historic center) some places can be a bit pricey. However, there are plenty of interesting options for all tastes and budgets. Below are the main areas near the hotel and some representative examples.

1.Around the hotel

The hotel is located next to the Guadalmedina River, in a slightly quieter area, but with plenty of interesting options. Within a few minutes’ walk, you can find:

  • El Corte Inglés (to the southwest), which houses the Gourmet Experience on the fifth floor, a space with several national and international food stalls—ideal for a varied meal with nice views.
  • Málaga Plaza (to the west), a small shopping center with fast food options like Burger King or Goiko, perfect for a quick and simple meal.

Heading west, away from the river, you’ll also find several small, traditional bars and restaurants with reasonable prices. These are great for casual tapas or trying local dishes without yet entering the city center.

2.Málaga city center

If you cross the river heading east, you’ll reach the historic center within a few minutes. This is the area with the highest concentration of restaurants and visitors, offering everything from international franchises and modern eateries to traditional taverns. Although prices can be higher due to the location, the variety makes it easy to find something that fits any budget.
You can grab a quick bite at places like 100 Montaditos or McDonald’s, enjoy traditional cuisine at Casa Lola or El Pimpi, or explore a wide variety of international and local options. There are also high-end restaurants like Kaleja (Michelin star) for a more exclusive dining experience. In addition, there are many restaurants around Plaza de las Flores and along Calle Granada, Plaza del Carbón, Calle Calderería, Plaza de Uncibay, and Plaza de la Merced. These areas are full of lively spots catering to different tastes and budgets

3.Soho

If you cross the river and head south, passing through the Alameda Principal, you’ll arrive in the Soho district. Known for its artistic and cultural atmosphere, this area is full of charming venues, modern concepts, and alternative cuisine.
Here you’ll find everything from creative bistros like La Antxoeta to more casual spots like Picnic Soho or Mimo Vegan Bistro, which specializes in vegan cuisine. It’s an ideal area if you’re looking for something original, nicely presented, and in a slightly more relaxed setting than the historic center.

4.Shopping centers and nearby areas

If you’d prefer to step away from the tourist hotspots and go for something more casual or budget-friendly, there are several nearby shopping centers, heading south-west, in the general direction towards the Central Train Station:

  • Larios Centro (about a 10-minute walk) and its surroundings: home to chains like Pomodoro, La Tagliatella, or Vips, along with several fast-food options. There are also local pizzerias and bars in the surrounding streets.
  • Vialia (about 15 minutes from the hotel): located in María Zambrano train station, the upper-level features multiple franchises like Foster’s Hollywood, Taco Bell, KFC, and Ginos. Right across the street, you’ll also find some more traditional restaurants—perfect if you’d like to avoid the bustle of the city center.

5.Other places

If you have more time, particularly for dinner, there are many additional options that can be reached on foot within 30 to 60 minutes from the conference venue, without needing public transportation.
To the south, you can walk towards the port area, where you'll find Muelle Uno, a pleasant waterfront promenade filled with restaurants, cafés, and shops. It’s an ideal place to dine with views of the marina.
A bit further east from Muelle Uno, you'll reach the Plaza de Toros (bullring), which is surrounded by various dining spots offering both traditional and modern cuisine.
Continuing east along the coastline, you'll come to La Malagueta Beach. This area is known for its "merenderos" and "chiringuitos" (beachside restaurants), such as Antonio Martín, where you can enjoy seafood and Mediterranean dishes. Walking further, you'll reach the historic Baños del Carmen, the location of the gala dinner. Beyond that lies the neighborhood of El Palo, a very popular area among locals for eating "pescaito frito" (fried fish) and home to many informal seafood restaurants right on the beach.
Alternatively, if from the port you head west instead of east, you’ll reach the Paseo Marítimo Antonio Banderas, a wide seaside promenades perfect for a relaxing walk. This area also features a wide range of chiringuitos and other restaurants where you can enjoy a laid-back meal by the sea.
